1. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Ukraine in 2017, acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn of the ROK exchanged celebratory messages with President Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko of Ukraine on February 10.

2. In his message, acting President Hwang noted with appreciation that since forging diplomatic relations in 1992, the ROK and Ukraine have been seeing their friendly and cooperative ties advance in various fields, including political affairs, economy and culture. He voiced hope that the two countries will work more closely together in such sectors as science, technology, agriculture and energy based on their friendship built over the last quarter century.

3. President Poroshenko, taking note of the close cooperation between the ROK and Ukraine on both the bilateral level and the international stage over the past 25 years, expressed confidence that the two countries will see their relations develop further through mutually beneficial cooperation.

4. The ROK and Ukraine plan to hold meaningful events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2017, which are expected to help further promote mutual understanding and exchanges between the peoples of the two countries.
